John – The Apostle of God

Without the indwelling Spirit of God, the disciples may have perceived Jesus as a Prophet, a powerful Man of God, but not as the All-Powerful God – Prophet, Priest, King – the whole fullness of the Deity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Impossible to compute 3 equaling 1. Impossible to view the bodily form of Jesus as the complete expression of the Divine nature of Agape Love (Colossians 2:9 AMP) when Holy Spirit is not present in the equation.

How impossible to imagine the likeness, the homogeneity, the oneness of three in complete accordance – agreement, unity, harmony, compatibility – working Good for the welfare of mankind. God does this for His name’s sake not ours. Why? The only One Good is God, Who loves unconditionally; Who has given us the gift of free-will to decide whether or not to honor, respect and follow the footsteps of Righteousness, His Christ, our Mesiah, Prophet, Priest, King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

I have used the following AI Overview to describe the multiple roles Jesus fulfills, including Prophet, Priest, and King. Also, on the podcast John – The Apostle of God there information shared regarding the Lord’s roles as Savior, Redeemer, Shepherd, and Servant-Leader; along with verses I have added that John wrote about the Truth. Roles that represent Christ’s Divine authority, His sacrifice for humanity, His role as a Guide and Protector, and His example of selfless service.

Christ’s three offices:

  • PROPHET – Jesus’ office as Prophet is explained by His role as the ultimate Revealer of God’s will, fulfilling and surpassing the role of the Old Testament prophets by not just speaking God’s words, but by being God’s Word made flesh. He taught, prophesied, and performed miracles, and His authority was such God commanded people to listen to Him. He is considered the Chief Prophet Who reveals God’s wisdom, imparts knowledge of the true God, and calls people to repentance through Holy Spirit. The Message Bible’s translation of John 6:14 states: The people realized God was at work among them by what Jesus had done. They said, “This is the Prophet for sure. God’s Prophet right here in Galilee!”
  • PRIEST – Jesus’ office as Priest is explained by His role as Mediator between God and humanity, fulfilling and surpassing the Old Testament Levitical priesthood. Christ is our High Priest. He offered Himself as the ultimate, once-for-all sacrifice for sin, securing eternal redemption. His priestly duties include continual intercession for believers, assisting them in their struggles, and blessing them, thereby enabling a direct and holy relationship with our Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. John Chapter 17 the Lord’s final prayer to the Father identifies Jesus as High Priest interceding for His disciples and the future Church and acting in a priestly role of mediating between God and humanity.
  • KING – Jesus’ office as King explained by His role as the ultimate Sovereign Who rules, defends and subdues His people, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies of a Davidic King. This kingship is currently spiritual, reigning in the hearts of believers and the Church, but will be consummated physically and universally upon His return, at which point He will conquer all enemies and establish perfect justice. The Amplified version of John 18:37 tells us: Pilate asked, “Then You are a King?” Jesus answered, “You say it! You speak correctly! For I am a King! This is why I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the Truth!
