The following is an excerpt taken from Part One of the podcast John – The Apostle of Love:
What was it about John that led him to be identified as the Apostle of Love? The belief is he possessed a blend of characteristics and traits from both the melancholic and phlegmatic personality types. However, I suggest he may also have been a bit of a romantic. Described as an idealistic individual, one whose lifestyle is based on a belief in high moral and ethical principles.
John shared his belief with the world: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it (John 1:1-5). For the world is under Satan’s power and control. But God, He sent His Son, the Word of Truth, to help us understand and find the One true God
(1 John 5:19 TLB), for the will of our heavenly Father is that His children should be sanctified (1 Thessalonians4:3) by the Truth, His Word of Truth (John 17:17) Christ Jesus.
Yes, God wants those who accept the Truth and believe Jesus is the Son of God to know they are not of this world for they are the children of God (John 17:16). And as the Message Bible translates John 16:7-11 when Jesus said: “If I don’t leave; the Friend won’t come. But, if I go, I’ll send Holy Spirit to you.”
“When He comes, he’ll expose the error of the godless world’s view of sin and righteousness and judgment: He’ll show them their refusal to believe in Me is their basic sin; that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control; that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted.”
