Job: Blameless and Upright

In Job 1:8 we learn the Lord questioned the enemy, now known to us to be the prince of the power of the air, “Have you considered My servant Job, there is none like him on the earth.”

None on earth like Job blameless and upright; a God-fearing man who shuns – avoids, evades, escapes – evil. Satan countered this claim by saying, “You have made a hedge around him, around his household and all that he has on every side,” Job 1:9. We are blessed to hear about the strength of faith and conviction Job had in Jehovah, Who said to Satan, “All that he has is in your power, only do not lay a hand on his person,” Job 1:8,12.

There is much to be gleaned from the Book of Job. What is clearly evident from the beginning of this story, it is God Who blesses us with every good thing, and the one who propagates evil on the earth will always be working to destroy the Presence of Good in our personal world and the world in general.

From the North, South, East and West there were those who chose to do evil, to kill, steal and destroy. In every direction one could look toward the right, the left, from above and below the heavens, tragedies occurred. It seems one after another four servants came reporting to Job the most devastating news: Sabeans, who today would be from Yemen, took the oxen and donkeys; the fire of God fell from heaven and destroyed the sheep and servants; Chaldeans, who would have been from what we know today as Iraq, carried off the camels, and the most horrendous news, a great wind struck the four corners of your son’s house causing it to fall and kill all his children.

How did Job come to possess such faith and love, hope and confidence in and for the Lord that he could find it in his heart to fall on the ground and worship Him, instead of doing what comes so naturally complaining, cursing, raging,..

I pray the power of God’s Word in your life to free you from the hand of temptation and sin, fear and deception so you know and understand you are walking about in the darkness of evil that causes the foundations of the earth and the foundation of your thoughts and feelings and emotions to be unstable.

The Lord our God said, “You are gods for I have given you the free will to choose. And all of you are children made in the image of the Most High. But, if you participate by following the principles and philosophies of the darkness of evil in which you walk, you shall die like men and fall like one of the princes,” Psalm 82:4-6 NKJV

Are you aware of the exchanges our heavenly Father was able to make for you, for the world through His Son to free us from the hand of fear and sin, vanity and deception:

  1. Jesus was condemned so you could be forgiven
  2. Jesus was wounded so you could be healed
  3. Jesus was made sin for your sinfulness, so you could be made upright through His righteousness
  4. Jesus tasted death for you so you could have Life everlasting
  5. Jesus was made a curse so you could receive blessings in abundance
  6. Jesus endured poverty so you could prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers
  7. Jesus bore your shame so you could receive His glory
  8. Jesus endured rejection so you could experience God’s acceptance
  9. Jesus was cut off so you could be united with our heavenly Father
  10. Jesus laid His life down so you could be made alive in Him

I have prayed over this outreach – For God, Fore His Glory – to be as a beacon that signals safe refuge in the arms of Jesus, while holding out to all – the Word of Life (Philippians 2:15 TLB); which is a Beacon for sound advice; a Light that emanates good teaching; a Life path of moral and corrective discipline (Proverbs 6:23).
