The Righteous Branch: Christ’s Role as King and Priest

 IN THAT DAY

Lord, let us be called by Your name
Christian
Yes, the Lord has done this for us
He has shown His favor
He has taken our disgrace away

The righteous Branch has sprouted
From the line of David
To do
What is right and just
The God of Glory took a shoot
A tender sprig
He planted it on the mountain heights of Israel
To let His light shine out of darkness
To make His light shine
In the hearts of man
In those who desire to know
The Light of the knowledge of the glory of God
In the face of Christ Jesus

Yes, the Word became flesh
He dwelt among us
The glory of the One and Only
Was seen
The One
Who came from the Father
Full of grace and truth

The true Vine – Christ Jesus
The Gardener – our heavenly Father
Who cuts off every branch that bears no fruit
Who prunes
So fruit bearing branches
Flourish

Beautiful
Glorious – the Branch of the Lord
Behold
The Man, Christ Jesus
The Messiah
The Branch
Building the true temple of the Lord
He rules as King
As Priest
The counsel of peace
Of perfect harmony
Shall rest between both roles

Jesus
A High Priest forever
In the order of Melchizedek
King of Righteousness
King of Peace
