Open our eyes Father that we may see
Wonderful things in Your Word!
Psalm 119:18
When Jesus was at the table with them, He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him, and He disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:30-31.
Jesus took bread, gave thanks, and broke it to share with those two who had invited Him to abide with them. How often they had heard the book of Isaiah read: Tell them, ‘Be strong, fear not, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you. With this news, bring cheer to all discouraged ones. Encourage those who are afraid.’
For when He comes, He will open the eyes of the blind and unstop the ears of the deaf. The lame man will leap up like a deer, and those who could not speak will shout and sing! Springs will burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert (Isaiah 35:3-6 TLB).
As they watched and listened to the Lord, were their spirits not stirred up by the Word, as the Truth was tugging at their heart. “I am the Bread of Life. Those who come to Me will never go hungry, and those who believe in Me will never be thirsty,” John 6:35. “This is My body given for you! Do this in remembrance of Me,” Luke 22:19.
Though confused and bewildered this desire sprang to life: That God’s Word would abide with them. The veil lifted, and they caught a glimpse of Jesus. As we continue our trek toward Pentecost during these 50 days of the Easter Season, we will arrive at what was also called the Feast of Firstfruits. As we look into what was written about these days, God’s Word will give us different glimpses of Who Jesus is for us. And as understanding dawns, Christ will be seen as the Firstfruit, Who has truly been raised from the dead – the first One and proof those who sleep in death will also be raised (1 Corinthians 15:20-23 NCV). `
The number 50 is related to freedom, celebration and abundance surrounding a season that would ignite an eternal Jubilee in heaven. In the book of Leviticus, we are told every 50 years was to be celebrated as a jubilee year when slaves would be freed, debts would be forgiven, and the land would be allowed to rest, and God would provide the harvest for the people. In the Old Testament this 50-day season spanned from Passover to the Feast of Firstfruits, while in the New Testament the season spans from Easter to Pentecost.
Jesus continues to say to His disciples, “Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest,” John 4:35. We are God’s field
(1 Corinthians 3:9 ESV), and there is a harvest of goodness, of blessings, of righteousness and peace to be reaped for everyone who turns to Jesus.
For anyone who procures the willingness to look into God’s perfect law that sets people free (James 1:25a ERV), for the Law leads up to Christ! The purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Jesus, as being the means (agent, power, catalyst) of righteousness.
The grace and truth that comes to us through Jesus, gives anyone and everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on God’s Word the privilege to enjoy a right relationship with our heavenly Father (Romans 10:4 AMP).
Because of what Jesus has accomplished we no longer have to wait 50 years to observe a single Year of Jubilee. God’s Word reveals the Truth, the Way and the Life. We can celebrate throughout time and eternity with confidence that Goodness, Mercy and unfailing Love will follow us all the days of our lives, and we can dwell in the house of the Lord forever Psalm 23:6 AMP).
For God considers the Lord’s disciples blameless, He see us upright, and He has given us a hope and a future to enjoy His peace (Psalm 37:37) right now, right here on earth! And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our heart and our mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
For Jesus has returned to His glory in heaven after He laid Himself upon that cross (John 15:13). “I must fall and die like a kernel of wheat that falls into the furrows of the earth. Unless I die, I will be alone-a single seed. But My death will produce many new wheat kernels-a plentiful harvest of new lives. If you love your life down here-you will lose it. If you despise your life down here-you will exchange it to be gathered in the harvest of God to reap eternal glory, “John 12:23-25 TLB.
For upon the harvest of God, the Lord bestows a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. God’s people will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His Splendor (Isaiah 61:3).
Blessed are the people who persevere when they are tempted to do wrong. Yes, blessed are they who continue strong, remaining loyal and faithful servants of God for they will receive the Crown of Life He has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12).
Blessed are they who God has anointed with His holy oil, His Holy Spirit, sacred to Him throughout our generations (Exodus 30:31 AMP). Blessed are they who have donned this garment of praise, “Salvation belongs to our God, Who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb,” Revelation 7:10.
God has always desired to remove us from slavery to fear and sin and pridefulness. For the evil one, the thief, comes only to steal and kill and destroy (John 10:10a). With arms wide open, God invites those who choose to serve the Lord, to faithfully follow His Word to be where He is (John 12:23). Praise God, for He sent His Son so we may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows (John 10:10b AMP).
We can join God’s eternal jubilee! We can forever celebrate and be glad, because we were dead in our sins (Colossians 2:13), but our heavenly Father has made us alive in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:5 Message)! We were lost, blinded by the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4), but we will be found covered with the Lord’s glorious banner of love (Song 2:4 AMP).
The Lord has turned my wailing into dancing!
He removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy!
My heart will sing to Him and not be silent!
O Lord my God, I will give You thanks forever!
Psalm 30:11-12
