The Lord our God walks in our midst!
Deuteronomy 23:14
While they were still talking about this, Jesus Himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you,” Luke 24:36.
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you! (2 Thessalonians 3:16).
Jesus was speaking to His disciples about His impending crucifixion. He was explaining to them what He meant when He said, “In a little while you will see Him no more.” His disciples responded, “Now You are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. We can see that You know all things, and that You do not even need to have anyone ask You questions. This makes us believe You came from God.”
Jesus answered, “You believe at last! But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to their own home. You will leave Me alone. Yet, I am not alone, for My Father is with Me.”
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world,” John 16:29-33.
A few days before Jesus was arrested, the prophecy of Zechariah was fulfilled: See, your King comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9). The crowds that went ahead of Him, and those that followed shouted: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:9.
As it was recorded in the Book of Isaiah: There shall be an Heir in the house of Jesse, and He will be King over all the nations. The people will pin their hopes on Him alone (Romans 15:12). Yes, upon David, his descendants, his house, and his throne, there shall be peace from the Lord forever.
The Lord sought out David, a man after His own heart: “I have bestowed strength on a warrior, I have exalted a young man from among the people. I have found David My servant. With My sacred oil I have anointed him. My hand will sustain him. Surely My arm will strengthen him. My faithful love will be with Him and through My name his horn will be exalted,” Psalm 89:19-24.
This young shepherd boy shared an intimate relationship with the Lord, and He shared with the world what He came to know: The compassion and loving-kindness of the Good Shepherd, Who gave him life, and life to the full (John 10:10).
